Fishing has been a large part of Lois' life for many years.
Trout, Atlantic salmon, steelhead, bonefish, bass and bluegill
are just a few of the finny creatures she's chased.
She
has fished throughout North America (USA, Canada, Mexico) as
well as Ascension Bay, the Virgin Islands and the fabled brown
trout waters of New Zealand. Lois is also involved in tournament
casting, with gold, silver, and bronze medals in both regional
and national events.
Lois has been a FFF certified instructor for 10 years.
She has instructed at Henry's Fork Lodge in Idaho with Joan
Wulff, Lisa Cutter and Cathy Beck. She's helped at Mel Krieger's
open clinics in Golden Gate Park, given clinics at Sugar
Creek Ranch, Kennedy Meadows, and Saw Mill Lake in Northern California and instructed at Eliguk
Lake Lodge in British Columbia. Lois has instructed at conclaves
in No. California, Idaho, regional clinics in Tracy, California
and demonstrated casting at the International Sportsman Exposition
in Pleasanton. In July she will be giving casting clinics
through Island
Rods and Flies in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Lois has
taught for the City of Pleasanton, City of Walnut Creek, Las
Positas College, Diablo Valley College, Chabot College, and
East Bay Regional Parks in both the spring and fall quarters.
She has studied under Joan Wulff in her Instructor's School,
assisted Lisa Cutters clinics and horse packs in the
Sierras. Lois also has a Masters degree in education and has
taught at both the college and public school level.
An accomplished fly tyer, she has tied at shows around the
western states - including tying at the Winslow Homer exhibit
at the Palace of the Legion of Honor, ISE shows in Sacramento,
San Mateo, and Pleasanton, and the Federation of Fly Fishers
shows in Eugene, Oregon, Idaho Falls, Idaho and Kings Beach
